Every Thread Tells a Story

Sarees We Would Love to Wear. Sarees We Would Be Proud to Share.

At House of Varnika, we believe that finding a saree should be as beautiful as wearing one.

There are thousands of sarees to choose from, different fabrics, weaves, colours, borders, traditions and price points. Sometimes that choice is exciting. Sometimes, it can be overwhelming.

That is where Varnika comes in. We curate sarees that catch our eye, tell a story and feel special. Our collections bring together traditional and contemporary sarees across pure silks, Kanchivaram, silk cottons, tussar and raw silks, cottons, linens, khadis, semi crepe Mysore silks and other thoughtfully chosen weaves. Some are grand and festive. Some are beautifully understated. Some are rooted deeply in tradition. Some bring a contemporary colour or design to a familiar weave. What connects them is simple:

We have chosen them because we believe they are worth wearing.

WE CURATE, YOU DISCOVER.

We don't believe you need to be an expert to appreciate a saree.

You may know exactly what you want a particular weave, colour or price range.

Or you may simply say, I want something beautiful. Show me what you have. Both are perfectly fine. We are here to help you discover.

We look at the fabric, weave, colour, border, finish, drape and overall character of every saree we bring into our collection.

And we try to offer something for different women, different occasions and different budgets.

Because the saree that makes one woman stop and smile may be completely different from the one another woman falls in love with.

And that's the beauty of it.

Why Varnika?

Curated, Not Crowded: We don't try to stock everything. We select pieces that we genuinely believe deserve a place in the Varnika collection.
Tradition with a Modern Eye: We love India's traditional textiles, but we also love discovering new colours, combinations and interpretations that make them relevant today.
Personal Service: Varnika is a family run business. When you speak to us, you are speaking to real people who care about what we curate. Tell us your occasion, your preferences and your budget. We'll help you look.

Something For Every Occasion:  A wedding, A festival, A family celebration, A temple visit, A workday, Or simply a day when you feel like wearing a saree. Our collections are chosen with all of these moments in mind.

Quality We Can Stand Behind:  We pay attention to the details the fabric, weave, finish, measurements, blouse piece and overall presentation. We are continually building stronger quality check processes because we want every saree we recommend to meet the standards we set for ourselves.

A New Chapter in an Old Story

Varnika may be a young brand, but the values behind it have been growing for much longer. Our family business, Navbharath Press, was established in Bengaluru in 1965 and has spent more than six decades working with design, printing and publishing.

As we approached our 60th year, we found ourselves thinking about the things that have remained constant through all those years design, craftsmanship, attention to detail, relationships and the importance of creating something that lasts. That reflection became the beginning of Varnika. The medium changed from paper to fabric. The stories changed from printed pages to woven threads.

But the philosophy remained remarkably similar:

Choose carefully. Create beautifully. Preserve what matters.

Varnika is our new chapter a celebration of Indian textiles and the saree, curated with a modern eye but with deep respect for the traditions behind them.

The People Behind the Threads

Founder

Lakshmi Shreyas

House of Varnika was founded by Lakshmi Shreyas, an entrepreneur with a deep interest in Indian traditions, textiles and the stories that surround them. With a background in engineering and a Master's degree in Divyaprabandham, Lakshmi's journey has always brought together two seemingly different worlds  structured thinking and a deep appreciation for India's cultural heritage.

Her love for sarees eventually became the inspiration for Varnika.

Today, Lakshmi remains closely involved in the entire journey from discovering and curating sarees to shaping collections, building systems, creating the customer experience and speaking directly with customers. What she enjoys most is still the simplest part:

Finding a saree and knowing that someone is going to fall in love with it.

Her approach to Varnika is simple:Choose thoughtfully. Present beautifully. Serve honestly.

Varnika is a journey that Lakshmi shares with her husband, Sri Shreyas Sridhar, who is the co founder of House of Varnika. With a background in Electronics & Communication Engineering and a Master's in Divyaprabandham, Shreyas brings together an analytical mind with a strong connection to Indian tradition and culture. While Lakshmi leads the creative direction, curation and day to day evolution of Varnika, Shreyas contributes to the business with his perspective, planning and support behind the scenes.

Together, they share a simple belief: A business built around tradition should also be built on integrity, quality and relationships. Varnika is their journey of bringing these values together creating a brand that respects the past while finding its place in the lives of today's customers.

For them, Varnika is not simply about building a saree business. It is about building something meaningful, one collection, one customer and one relationship at a time.
